This
annual event creates awareness about HIV/AIDS
in the Masimba region of Masaba District, Kenya.
Since TYVI aspires to fill a gap in rural HIV/AIDS
awareness efforts in Kenya, the Masimba run is
prototype awareness project that we hope to replicate
elsewhere in rural Kenya. The race takes place
at Masimba. It starts and ends at Masimba Community
Resource Center. The race is a great attraction
and has become a flagship event in the community.
Vision
To
grow the Masimba AIDS Race into a premier sports
event that will make a lasting impact on the war
against AIDS and one that will produce international
runners.
Objectives
The
run seeks to:
 |
1.
Create HIV/AIDS awareness in the community
2.
Involve community members in the fight
against the epidemic
3.
Mobilize youth to participate in community
development
4.
Provide youth with an opportunity to learn
leadership skills

Funding
BGSU-Kenya
5K Benefit Run funds the race. We hope that other
organizations and individuals will join BGSU-Kenya
5K Benefit Run to fund the coming races.
